Lynne R. Dorfman

Lynne Dorfman is a co-director for the Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project where she serves on the blog team. She has been an adjunct professor for Arcadia University for the past twenty years and loves interacting with graduate students.  Lynne enjoys her work as a co-editor of PA Reads: Journal of Keystone State Literacy Association and current president of KSLA Brandywine/Valley Forge, She is a past president of Eta, a chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.

Lynne is a co-author of Grammar Matters: Lessons, Tips, and Conversations Using Mentor Texts, K–6 and A Closer Look: Learning More About Our Students with Formative Assessment, K–6. Her newest book, Welcome to Writing Workshop: Engaging Today’s Students with a Model That Works, is with Stacey Shubitz. In addition, Lynne is a co-author of Mentor Texts: Teaching Writing Through Children’s Literature (2017 2nd ed), Nonfiction Mentor Texts: Teaching Informational Writing Through Children’s Literature, and Poetry Mentor Texts: Making Reading and Writing Connections. At the present time, Lynne is collaborating with Stacey Shubitz on Jump Into Writing, which is a writing workshop curriculum for students in grades 2–5. Jump Into Writing will be available from Zaner-Bloser in the fall of 2020.

She has conducted staff development workshops in many surrounding Pennsylvania counties and districts and presented at KSLA, PCTELA, NCTE, RCCNA, CCIRA, Michigan State Reading Conference, CARR, WSRA Conference, USBBY, UCI Writing Project Annual Conference, Florida State Reading Conference, Missouri Write to Learn, Alabama State Literacy Association Conference, Literacy for All, and ILA Conferences.

Lynne has a reading specialist certificate from LaSalle University and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Immaculata University. She spent 38 years in Upper Moreland Township School District as a classroom teacher, a teacher of gifted education K–5, a writing coach, a literacy coach and reading specialist, and a staff developer. Recently, she serves as an independent literacy consultant for grades K–8 and enjoys coming to classrooms to model writing and reading lessons, co-teach, and/or coach.  

In her free time, Lynne writes on her own blog, takes long walks with her three Welsh Corgis, works in her garden, participates in a PAWLP writers’ group, and takes mini-vacations with her husband. She loves the time she spends with her three goddaughters and, of course, her wonderful friends.
